About Chef Jeremy

As a teenager, Jeremy Kaplan discovered his passion for food through a culinary arts program that changed his life. That early spark turned into a career built on patience, curiosity, and sharing the kitchen with others.

He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and brings 15+ years of industry experience to every lesson — including Kitchen Director at Camp Rising Sun, Head Chef at Ananda Ashram, and Sous Chef at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. From 2019 to 2025, he taught activities of daily living & culinary arts at the Manhattan School for Career Development, serving students with special support needs. He is also a 200-hour certified yoga instructor — a practice that shapes the calm, grounded way he approaches lessons.

Testimonials

"He took great care to ask about my food preferences and nuanced food restrictions before coming up with a menu for me that would suit my taste and tummy. I highly recommend you treat yourself too!!"
HeatherGut-friendly Cooking Student, Brooklyn
"I had the pleasure of working alongside Jeremy as a colleague, and his patience and dedication as a cooking teacher was truly exceptional. Jeremy created a supportive, structured, and fun environment where students were engaged and learning. He broke down recipes into simple steps and got hands-on when necessary such as to assist with adding the correct amount of ingredients or using proper technique to cut or stir the food. He also instilled great kitchen habits, having students clean up different stations at the end of every lesson. Anyone would be lucky to learn from him!"

"He listened to my 80 year old father tell the story of when he was a child and his mother cooked him fish croquettes. He asked questions about the taste, ingredients and later made a recipe for us and cooked a dish of fish croquettes and it was the highlight of our family gathering. Excited to make my dad his croquettes every year now!"

"Cooking has always been a struggle for me; I usually avoid it as much as possible. Being able to cook with Jeremy one-on-one helped build my confidence and ease my anxiety in the kitchen. He patiently taught me useful techniques and provided insightful tips that I will for sure refer back to whenever I'm cooking. I'm grateful for his guidance and would definitely recommend him to anyone who, like me, is insecure about their cooking abilities!"
